Welcome to the Carbon Finance Projects and Participants Website

The World Bank's Carbon Finance Unit uses funds contributed by governments and companies in OECD countries to purchase greenhouse gas emission reductions, commonly known as carbon credits, generated by projects in developing countries and countries with economies in transition. The emission reductions are purchased through one of our carbon funds or facilities on behalf of the contributor, and within the framework of the Kyoto Protocol's Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) or Joint Implementation (JI).

The purpose of this website is to provide project developers and fund/facility participants with information related to projects and specific financial instruments.

More information about the Carbon Finance Unit in general is available at http://carbonfinance.org.
